Throughout the book of “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the character, Jordan Baker shows up in many different ways. When we first meet Jordan she is only known as the character Nick is attracted to. Throughout the book, we get to see that she has many connections with the main characters. Her important relationships with Nick, Gatsby, and Daisy changes the traits we see from Jordan. Jordan’s relationship with Daisy is the first one to form. Jordan and Daisy are best friends and have been for a long time. Jordan was there when Daisy and Tom got married, but it wasn’t as simple as that. The night before Tom and Daisy’s’ wedding, Daisy had received a letter and was crying and drinking. This was unusual for Daisy because she doesn’t drink. Jordan was there for her and was able to get Daisy into a bath and got the letter away from her. She was also able to convince Daisy to continue with her marriage. The connection between Jordan and Nick is that of a romantic relationship. The first time Nick meets Jordan, he realizes how beautiful she is and is fascinated by her. As time went on, they both become closer to each other and really begin to have some feelings for each other. They become more infatuated with each other while helping Daisy and Gatsby get back together. This makes them vulnerable enough to fall for each other. Otherwise, they may not have fallen for each other. The reader can really see the emotion Nick has for Jordan when he says, “I was flattered that she wanted to speak with me, because of all the older girls I admired her the most” (pg. 75) This shows that Jordan is a real person and she has emotions that are barely shown because of the point of view of the
