Great Gatsby Fails and Successes What do people do to achieve their dreams? The steps and the process that takes place to achieve what you want to achieve takes time and effort that takes place the failures, are the accomplishments that you have to get over or lead to make better. Gatsby's dream is to fall in love with Daisy and be super rich. Ultimately this fails because all he did was argue with Tom about her and she was drawing away from that and falling out of love with gatsby. She was also remembering that she did love Tom once and she wants to give that another try. Gatsby took that blame. Through this failure Fitzgerald communicates, sometimes in life, you can't get what you want. the Dream of Gatsby that he wanted to fall in love with Daisy and be super rich. He also made good with Dan Cody which helped him become rich. Gatsby saw “Dan Cody's yacht drop anchor over the most insidious flat on Lake Superior…. Jay Gatsby who borrowed a rowboat pulled out to the Tuolomee and informed Cody that a wind might catch him”(Fitzgerald,105). Gatsbys’ dream was to become so rich he could do whatever he wanted. He wanted to impress the girl that he loves. He wanted to get her attention and show her what they once had. “That was it. I'd never understood before. It was full of money – that was the inexhaustible charm that rose and fell in it, the jingle of it, the cymbals' song of it… high in a white palace, the king's daughter, the golden girl” (Fitzgerald 128). Gatsby wanted to impress and draw the love of his life (Daisy) to fall back in love with him. He was trying to do that by showing off and throwing these parties. Gatsby is trying to become rich, to draw the love of his life back to him with what he is trying to show
