Literary Analysis Essay A quote from The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald states, “When you feel like criticizing any one, just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.” The Great Gatsby is by F. Scott Fitzgerald which is narrated by Nick Carraway. In the story, Daisy Buchanan is a beautiful woman who is married to a rich man who has affairs with another wealthy man. Daisy is the cause for each characters downfall, because of her deceiving personality, relationship with Tom, and her relationship with Gatsby. The first way she destroys other characters is through her own deceitful personality. Although Daisy was married for several years to Tom, she deceived him by sneaking around with Gatsby. In the movie, Daisy and Gatsby disappear for a half hour over at Nick's place for privacy (Luhrmann). After Daisy and Gatsby leave Nicks, Daisy and Tom leave together. Daisy main motive is money. In the novel, Daisy received a 350,000 dollar pearl necklace from Tom (Fitzgerald 77). Daisy feels it is okay to be going between two men at once until she figures out what she wants. Daisy is very dishonest which is a huge part of her personality which is shown in the movie and book. …show more content…

Although her husband is Tom Buchanan, she doesn’t feel fully appreciated, which may be the cause of her deceitful manor. Gatsby wants Daisy, he tries to get to her through her cousin Nick. In the book, Nick invites Daisy over for tea, per Gatsby’s request (Fitzgerald 82). Nick was told he wasn't allowed to invite Tom over for tea. In the movie, Tom and Daisy faced many troubles but in the end they ended up getting back together. Besides all of the arguing in Tom and Daisy's marriage they ended the novel just like it began, careless and not trustworthy
