Gatsby 's guests completely enjoy the hospitality he provides, all while gossiping about him. Some, have never seen him. People attend his parties to have a good time, to be seen, and to meet people. It 's a free night out so they take advantage.

The typical residents of East Egg are rich and live luxurious lives.

Gatsby was Cody’s steward, mate, skipper, and secretary.

3. What is ironic about Tom’s statement that “women run around too much these days to suit me”? How is this statement consistent with Tom’s character?
It is ironic that Tom should be so judgmental, since he had been involved in all sorts of sordid affairs with just such women since his marriage to Daisy, and was at that point involved in an affair with Myrtle Wilson, a married woman. He is, therefore, ironically and unknowingly, also referring to himself as a "crazy fish." Secondly, his wife is also involved in a similar relationship with Jay Gatsby, a fact that he will soon discover to his shock. His allusion therefore ironically also includes both his wife and Gatsby.

4. How does Daisy feel about Gatsby’s parties? How does her reaction illustrate the differences between East and West Egg?
Daisy likes Gatsby’s parties and finds them interesting and ostentatious. Her reaction shows that the East egg is a little less luxurious than West Egg.
