The Great Gatsby is a novel written by Scott Fitzgerald. This novel is argued to be the best Novel in American literature. It's a book about Jay Gatsby. He was a charmer who had dreams of marrying the love of his life. The novel states, "He had one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced, or seemed to face, the whole external world for an instant and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, and believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself." Love is a theme throughout the novel. It also shows how doing the wrong thing and chasing something will ultimately cause trouble. For example, in this quote said by George Wilson,”...and I said, 'God knows what you've been doing, everything you've been doing.
