Unbelievable as it was The Great War was known for the world wide conflict between two groups of nations that joined together. The cause of the Great War was the assignation of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie by a Serbian man named Gavrilo Princip in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. On July 28, 1914 Austrian-Hungarian declared war on Serbia. This conflict joined forces with two groups fighting; the allied powers and the central powers. The allied powers were built on Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Serbia, and later in 1917 the United States joined. The central powers were built on Germany, Austrian-Hungarian Empire, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. During World War 1, the United States stayed neutral for most of the war. The
