Burkett 1 Carson Sutherland 15 May 2023 Harriet Tubman’s Greatest Achievements ¨I would fight for my liberty so long as my strength lasted, and if the time came for me to go, the Lord would let them take me.¨(Tubman) Harriet Tubman guided hundreds of enslaved people to freedom at the risk of her own, became the first woman to lead an army raid, and nursed sick and wounded black soldiers back to health from the 1850s-1900s. She accomplished these feats in many states, in the South and up to the North, all because she desired justice for all the people who were forced into slavery. While her time leading an army of people into battle, conducting the underground railroad, and nursing hundreds of soldiers back to health were all monumental, leading an army of people into battle was her greatest achievement. These actions are inspiring because it shows how brave and capable Harriet Tubman truly was and how selfless she was. …show more content…

In Document A, the text states, “She was part of a network known as the Underground Railroad… a series of safehouses strung along the route…from the slave border states to Canada,” this quote tells us how Harriet would take a long and grueling trial just for the people to be saved. The number of people her network saved was also impressive, 70+ people followed her and made it to safety in Canada (Doc B.) Working as a civil war nurse made Harriet admirable, showing her selflessness and caring nature. Even when Harriet felt weak and tired, she found a way to ¨[take]ing care of poor people in her home.”(Doc E.)
