This story is called the Odyssey by Homer and it is about how many gods and goddesses make it hell to get back home makes Odysseus have a hard time getting home. This story is about a man named Odysseus who goes off to fight in the Trojan war. He, in fact, was in the great wooden horse that was used to sneak the greeks in so they could slaughter the sleeping/drunk trojans.Odysseus suffered many hardships such as being harassed by a witch and by a few gods and Goddesses. Even without his crew, he still managed to get back home. Although he only came home to find suitors ravaging through his food, drinking his wine, and most importantly they were trying to take his wife away from him. He loses faith, all his men, and hope. It does not get any better when he returned back to Ithaca. For when he returned he could not simply just go straight back home. When he landed on the shores of Ithaca, he found Athena in the form of a young shepherd boy. Odysseus came up with some elaborate lie about how he was a fugitive. Once he was finished Athena appeared in her normal form and explained to him how suitors were in his house drinking his wine, and eating his food. She told him how they were trying to take his wife away from him and how she believed that you were coming back. After a few days, Odysseus got back home and ended up slaughtering all the suitors with help from old friends, and other random people. He finally tells his wife, Penelope, that he is back and did not die. She does not believe it is actually him. So, she tests him and asks him to go upstairs and move their bed. He says that he can't since he built it into an Olive Tree and he built the house around the tree. That is when Penelope actually believed that was her
