Kenshin is a war veteran in 1800’s japan. Kenshin was a soldier in a japanese civil war that took place after the western countries threatened to bomb Japan if they didn’t trade with us. During the war Kenshin or Ken as he is called by his friends became known as battosai the manslayer for the sheer number of people he killed. After the war Kenshin traded in his katan for a reverse blade sword and swore to never kill again. Heroic attributes Kenshin has many different heroic qualities. For example he constantly tries to find ways to resolve problematic situations without fighting saving even the most basic forms of aggression as a last resort. Ken believes that the world’s problems can be fixed without any violence. Kenshin has always told and taught anyone who is willing to listen that you don’t need to fight in order to do the right thing or fix something that is wrong. The civil war The civil war in Japan broke out over taxes and corruption with the lower classes opposing the nobles and traditional government in exchange for a better one. Kenshin who was 14 at the time believed that joining the war was the right thing to do. Kenshin repeatedly told his master that they have to join the war. Ken’s master always replied by telling him how much of dumb ass he was (his words not mine) and then ignoring him. One day Kenshin told his master he was joining the war and left with his masters final worlds being that he was a complete dumbass and he was no longer welcomed as a student. While fighting in the war Kenshin killed thousands sometimes wiping out entire towns. This earned him the name Battousai the manslayer the most feared of the manslayers. It was only at the end of the war that Kenshin was confronted by his humanity and swore to never kill
