He looked up at the tinted sky, illuminated by scattered stones.
“This world…is cruel.”
Kayn Hayes sighed, raking his hand through his dirtied blond hair. It was a deep, meaningful breath, with a tale behind it. Maybe once before somebody may have liked to listen to the tale, maybe not.
He proceeded to look to his left and then his right; all that surrounded him was a wasteland, garbage as far as the human eye could see, and further. Decades ago, humankind was warned that if further action was not executed, Earth would end by the hands of its own race. The human race were ignorant even then, and continued to crush Earth. Eventually, she gave out, and at least a third of humanity was annihilated by natural disasters. The rest had fled to neighbouring planets such as Mars – the Great Migration, it was unofficially named. Few remained to their natural soil. Kayn is an example of such.

“Pathetic,” she said to herself. She rested her legs on her designer desk (shoes on, which violated one of the Sierlock household rules) as she read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory eagerly, even though she retained her ordinary expression – which was mundane.
