Beorn, The Movie Effectiveness What way do you think makes the Hobbit scene with more effective? The movie or the book? The movie’s changes do not make a better impact for specific reasons. The Hobbit was written by J.R.R Tolkien in 1997 and the movie was directed by Peter Jackson in 2013. The story is about a non adventurous Hobbit, and it shows his growth throughout the quest with dwarves and Gandalf, his mentor. A couple of differences that are in the scene with Beorn and the dwarves is when the Dwarves first meet Beorn in the movie he is in the form of a bear, which makes the scene more exciting and adds a scary effect to it. Also, the Dwarves stay with Beorn a while he kills a goblin and a warg and has their heads and skins put on his fence to show the dwarves that Beorn trusts them. The book makes the scene more effective because it gives more detail in the events that happen. First of all, the reason to introduce Beorn to the dwarves in the bear form was because the director wanted the story to have a more creative and different feel for the viewer of the introduction of Beorn.
