In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins an idea worth learning about is survival. This idea helps the reader understand that even in dark times you can succeed and that your instincts will sink in. This idea was worth learning about as in the novel it shows Rue and Katniss working together, Katniss going into the woods to get food and what everyday life is like in the districts. The writer used an important idea survival which is demonstrated by Rue and Katniss in the hunger games as allies. You see this when Katniss and Rue make a plan so they can blow up the careers food and when Rue dies. “Did you blow up the food” Rue says to Katniss while dying. For example when Katniss and Gale go into the woods to hunt for food to sell and eat it. In the woods when Katniss sees the plant she is named after it reminds her of when her dad said “As long as you find yourself, you’ll never starve.” The idea of her going into the woods to get food shows you that there is a divide of the rich and the poor as all the food isn’t shared equally. This was worth learning about as you get to see how lucky we are to have everything and that we should help out others that are in need. When you see her hunting and collecting food by herself until she found a friend you see a lot of people in her district were in the same boat as her. This was worth learning about as you see people fighting for survival by breaking the rules and it also shows that when you’re in need there will always be a friend to help. This shows that humanity is messed up as people are starving and have to risk their life to try to survive.
