In chapter thirteen, The Idea of Progress: Modernity Triumphant, Wells discussed the progress of the nineteenth century. Because of the Industrial Revolution, Europe and the Americas were taking steps to becoming more modernization and had a surplus of products to trade. With the trade going around the world, most of the countries were in peace. Between 1815 to 1914, Europe and the Americas did not battle any big battles.
