AN is a single, 32 year old woman, from Deer River, Minnesota. She affiliates herself with the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe is one of six bands associated with the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe (Every Culture, 2015). Her primary language is English but she is also fluent in Ojibwe. AN was born in Deer River, Minnesota in 1984.

Lawrence Shames has a great concept of America and its culture. In the ‘Major Factor’ he said ‘ America’s economy is its frontier.' This is true. From 1800’s the America is digging to get into the new world through growth and development and generating revenue. In Texas, the new towns were built up, and a railroad was built nearby.
True Grit is greatly influenced by the law and order on the Western Frontier during the 1800s especially in the areas of Arkansa and the Indian Territory which is, current day Oklahoma. During this time, the crime in the area was great due to the fact that, criminals would commit crimes and then, escape to the lawless Indian Territory. Most importantly, in the border of Arkansa and the Indian Territory was Fort Smith which was “considered” the last “bastion of law and order”. Additionally, everything across that in the Indian Territory became the cases of the federal law. Unfortunately, the federal court in Fort Smith had to cover a large area with only one judge to handle all the cases.
The Shawnee National Forest impacted Illinois economically, socially, and with job opportunities. Franklin Roosevelt established the Shawnee Forest as a national forest in August of 1933. The forest was named after the Shawnee Native Americans who had onced lived, hunted, and farmed in the forest. Southern Illinois is where The Shawnee National Forest is located and it is over 280,000 acres that is managed by the government. The Shawnee National Forest hosts hundreds of different types of trees and plants and over 500 different species of wildlife.
Almost every year, my twin sister, my dad, and I, fly out to Iowa to visit our family. Trips to Iowa were and still are the highlight of my childhood. Everything about it is perfect. The deer with their fawns. The cowboys with their horses.
Pikes Peak This past summer I went on vacation with my aunt’s family to Colorado, and being from iowa, the land of corn and flat ground, we wanted to do all the mountain things you can do in Colorado. one very memorable mountain we visited was Pikes Peak, one of the tallest mountains in Colorado 14,114 thousand feet above sea level. There are two ways you can get to the top of Pikes Peak, you can drive up the side of the mountain, or you can ride the train up the other side, if you ride the train then you can only be on the top for 20 to 30 minutes, but if you drive you can do whatever you want, so we chose to drive up. The drive up was beautiful, even though the road was really windy and made me car sick it was still really cool to see.
I was born and raised in the city of Chicago, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Everyone from my father to my mother’s side of the family lives here, so if I suddenly leave to live in a different city, I would lose a big part of where I came from. Family is very important to me since I know I’ll always have some to look after me that is why when I think of Chicago, I think of all my family members here. Another unique thing about Chicago is how it’s always busy. Wherever you are, they are people running around trying to get to work, partying from night till the sun comes out, or protesting about something wrong with the government.
My trip to South Dakota was the most memorable vacation I have been on because of the many marvels the landscape had to offer. I fondly remember diving into history and learning about the historic sites, marveling at the vastness of the Black Hills and Badlands, and gawking in amazement at the beauty and mystery of the caves. e. Colorado If 5,000,000 plus people come to see mountains and streams,it must be a beautiful state. What’s the state you may wonder? Its Colorado! The state does have a lot of people. Plus the mountains are very beautiful.
As a small child, I grew up in India, a place well known for its cultural, linguistic and genetic diversity. As a child I have lived in many different places. As my dad climbed up the corporate ladder, we relocated to five different states in India. Each move made me stronger as I had to continuously get used to different schools, teaching methods and still adapt to the different environments. After each move, I had to make new friends and start over each time.
Josh: The New England Colonies is a great place to live and this is why you should live here. Payton: The geography is great because there are large mountains with abundant trees. Josh: And trade routes are great with the Atlantic Ocean in such close access.
When we think of the American West, we always envision a land of rugged mountains and vast prairie, on which cowboys ride on horseback and chase after the Indians. This is the definition of the American West as presented on big screens in cinema, where most Americans’ perception of the myth of the American West comes from. Myth is a story that represents a culture's values and helps to define the individuals that comprise it. All cultures are based on myths.
I grew up in Wellston, Ohio and lived in the countryside about fifteen minutes from town. My house was a home to me and it wasn 't the greatest, but it was special to me. My big backyard consisted of many fruit trees and a grape vine, it was where I had bonfires with my family and friends, and it was where I ran free with my brother. I had a pond, “over the hill” as my brother and I would say, where we swam and fished in the summertime and sat on the deck feeding bread to the bluegill as we had conversations about life. Behind our pond was where thousands of trees stood tall and where we roamed every inch of the hidden land.
