Being in front of this challenge students try to work harder in order to succeed. In the article, Sherry uses pieces of evidence from her personal experience and examples to support her thesis. Also, her article is well-organized, and Sherry uses an academic language. However, Sherry do not consider many aspects that might affect students. She gives to much importance the example that she gives with her son.
One of the history's greatest figures, Nelson Mandela, once said: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Over the course of years, this statement has only become more relevant. Maybe that is the reason why the topic of the decline of the American education has been recently spurring such a heated debate among national academic and teaching communities. In “The Chronicle of Higher Education”, Carl Singleton, a faculty member at Fort Hays State University, also presented his reflections concerning the U.S. education system.
The Common Core Sate Standards (CCSS) implemented in 2010 have brought significant change to the entire country. More than forty states, including California, have began the long and tedious transition into adopting the newly-developed, common academic standards that aims to bring the highest level of student achievement. In California, several independent reviews claim that the CCSS is not much different than the California State Standards. While the CCSS covers fewer topics, the new standards require a deeper understanding from the student.
The only way to achieve a successful life is going to college and becoming educated. Post-secondary is a big decision most teenagers have to make .The importance of having a college degree could cost you a job. Most people overlook the difference in the amount of pay with having a college degree. Even though debt is the main reasons people steer away from college it can be paid off easily.
As a young adult, I get asked this question quite often, “why is your college education so important to you?”. Throughout the years I have explained it differently each time as I have matured as an adult. There are probably a million reasons why college education is imperative, but I will narrow it down to the top three most important reasons why college is so important to me. The number one reason my college education is so necessary to me is because I am blessed with the opportunity to be a role model for my child. Another reason why college education is important to me is because it opens a whole new world of opportunities and experiences in life, I want to leave myself with many options when it comes to life choices.

Education is interconnected with every single strand of the economy, laws, jobs, research… I believe that education is not only one of the most important factors in a development of a country but instead, it has a greater significance than other factors. First and Foremost, Education is the foundation of our society. It gives us the power of knowledge and the power of assisting others. Nelson Mandela once said: “Education is the most powerful weapons which you can use to change the world – The Former
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.
For the better part of American history, the federal government did not play any real significant role in education, as education and educational policy was left up to state and local governments. As a result, state and local governments throughout the country devised educational systems that ostensibly reflected the needs and desires of their residents, systems that ultimately left people with various skills that they then drew upon when entering the workforce. With time, the federal government’s role in education grew more expansive, and was particularly prominent when George H.W. Bush was president, as he devised No Child Left Behind, which sought to push schools to raise standards; and when Barack Obama led the nation, as he implemented
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
In the Montessori Media centre (2009) they speak of how “Montessori education is driven by an ambitious aim: To aid the child’s development into a complete adult human being, comfortable with himself, with his society and with humanity as a whole. Whereas the traditional approach to education, remains focused on the transmission of prescribed blocks of knowledge, the Montessori approach is focused on giving support to the natural development of the child.” Maria Montessori spoke about how the development of the child between the age of 6 and 12 is a notable time in their life. She highlighted how it is a period of holistic development, which brings out the child’s need for wider horizons, the movement from the concrete to thinking abstractly and the development of the morale. The child is also very interested in socialising with peers.
The importance of good lesson planning and the benefits they have for the teacher. When considering the importance and even the significant of effective lesson planning, quite often we immediately considering the benefits that this can have on the student. Effective lesson planning certainly does benefit the student, discussed later in this essay.
The purpose of education is to create the “catalyst”, - the interest, the imagination, the self-confidence, the enthusiasm for further knowledge that helps a person grow beyond what they believe they can be. Education should help develop skills and knowledge, so students can be productive members of society. The more knowledge you have, the more opportunities you have in life. I think back to my childhood and the teachers that made an impact in my life. I want to be that catalyst for students.
