Do you think to always follow the crowd is always a good idea? Following the crowd is very easy. Although it is not always a good idea. Following the crowd can be bad because, the crowd will make bad decisions every once and awhile and that could lead to very bad things. Like in the lottery following traditions without knowing what they are because it could lead to death. Also even in “First they came” they were blindly following Hitler because if they spoke out they would most likely die or be imprisoned. First they came and the lottery were following things blindly without knowing what they mean or what they are about.
For the most part “The Lottery” is all about following the crowd. For an example of following the crowd “When all of the villagers is following old man warner’s thoughts about the whole lottery thing but it is not a very good or well thought out tradition.” Basically the whole village thinks the oldest man in the village is the wisest villager there.” “All the children started to gather round smooth stones.” All the kids are in a big crowd gathering stones and the children probably don’t even want to help out but they are just following what one person does. ”Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pockets full of stones. Although it does show it in a different way it shows to not to follow the crowd. In “First They Came” it states “I did not speak out because I am not a Jew.” But then it says “then they came for me but there was no one left to speak for me.” Basically that mean that you should not follow the crowd and not speak out because, then they won’t do the same for you. ”Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.” That show why people should not follow the crowd. People should not follow the crowd because, then other people will do the same and follow
