The Importance Of Freedoms In Modern Society

There are many aspects to our lives which many of us take for granted; including the freedom to criticize and attempt to alter the actions of our government, work reasonable hours for fair wages, and even to go on vacation or read certain books. In addition to personal freedoms, we also take for granted the accommodations that come from living in the richest country on the planet: The economic stability of America makes good paying jobs and a bright future for our children fiscally possible. Although many today would consider these things basic freedoms that every person should have, numerous examples persist of societies whose methods of governing fail to provide these and other qualities of life for their citizens. One such method of government is socialism, whereby a society is governed by specific laws and economic principles meant to prevent the emergence of a dominant upper class. By assessing examples of states where these principles are implemented and considering how they fare in improving the lives of their people in the aforementioned and many other ways, It becomes plain to see that Socialist states should not be implemented in modern society; They are neither morally sound in terms of sufficiently upholding modern morals or their own ideas, nor economically sustainable. Despite all the evidence presented in this paper and much more, defenders of socialist states will still argue that there are examples of socialist societies which have prospered, and that
