The chatter and whispers of the ideas and philosophies of socialism have now become yells and screams about how socialism is the most righteous form of government, that will revolutionize social justice issues in America. The idea of socialism has been around since Plato, yet it never seems to work successfully. There have been many different works written to push the philosophies of Socialism but one of the most read books is The Jungle written by Upton Sinclair. The Merriam-Webster definition of socialism is “any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.” In simple terms socialism is the collective ownership of goods and the means by which they are distributed. Although many socialists today would be quick to distinguish communism and socialism as two different things, they do indeed work together. Communism being defined by Merriam-Webster as “a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed.” Communism is just the outpouring of the philosophical idea of socialism. Do to the fall and the sinful nature of man we are now unable to see hierarchy as a good holy thing ordained by God. We have now perverted the holy and perfect hierarchy that God originally put in place. If we try to demolish any sense of difference in class it will never turn out how we wish it too, rather resulting in the exploitation of one class over the other. The hierarchy that God has put in place is not one that determines the worth of a person. If you have given your life to Christ then we are all God’s children. We are the ones that have decided that hierarchy cannot be separated from the worth that we have in this world. In the eyes of God we are all created equal from the person sleeping on the side of the street to the person in their mansion. Jesus said in Mark 10:25 “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” It is not bad to have money and for there to be different economical classes, what is important is how others are treated outside of our
