The “good life” is something that everyone wishes to have. A “good life” is when you are able to live in a safe environment without worries. Everyone want to live in a safe neighborhood, where there are no need to be frightened of activities in the community. Everyone wants to have a place where there are people in work, which allows the community to function by being able to contribute to the community. In order for us to attempt to create our safe environment, everyone needs to understand that the “good life” is hard to maintain on a local level and near impossible to be maintained on the global level. The safe environment is to be created for the community where they live. It has become impossible for the whole world to keep this “good life” because of the rising population growth. In the essay , Lifeboat Ethics it mentions, “The people inside the lifeboats are doubling in numbers every 87 years; those swimming around outside are doubling, on average, every 35 years, more than twice as fast as the rich,”(Hardin 366) which shows that the population is rapidly increasing and are mostly poor people, or the one who are in need of support. Even if people do try to help our whole country or world, it is impossible due the the sheer numbers of the rising human population. This is why they should focus on their own community or area that they actually live in. When creating the “good life” people should be helping out those who live in the same community as they do.
