I firmly believe that such memorials are extremely valuable to veterans. It has been said of veterans that they seldom talk about their military experiences; however, in my thinking, that is not an accurate appraisal. We think about those times; nonetheless, it’s difficult to find, even among loved ones, those with whom one feels at ease to share those memories and feelings. YET, standing in the solitude of these memorials, a soldier’s thoughts flow freely as he/she reminisces
It not only honors the lost, but it makes war seem so much more bleak and saddening. Maya Lin did a great job designing a memorial for the Vietnam War. It was functional, simplistic, and made us really think deep down about what war can do to people, not just those killed but the many of us affected
I guess in a way a Soldier can always understand the life of another Soldier. The people really never change, just the times. It caused me to reflect on my military experiences greatly; the pain, the suffering, the life and the death. The man who once resided at that marker might not have been much different than me. Maybe he had a wife, kids, and aspirations.
Arlington National Cemetery Good evening ladies and gentleman. I am your tour guide, Ava Cabrera. We are at the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C, the capital of the United States of America. About 300 thousand people are buried here. From Monday to Friday we have about 210 funeral services a week.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery is a memorial for all people that were killed while serving in war, especially people who could not be identified when they found their remains. It is located on top of a hill that overlooks Washington DC. It consists of one main large gravestone that states, “Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God.” In front of the gravestone, there are 3 grave markers that represent the unknown soldiers that died during World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and formerly the Vietnam War (they were able to identify the remains from this soldier from the Vietnam War by using DNA in 1998 so they removed his body). At the cemetery, there are also guards who protect this

Whether it is having a moment of silence, or just thanking a veteran, it is important that we do something. They sacrificed a lot for us, and we need to show our appreciation. Memorial day and Veterans day get confused, Memorial day is honoring veterans who have passed away, Veterans day is to honor ALL veterans. They risked or even lost their lives for us and for our country. We need to show them that what they did for us
It is important for us to honors these veterans who are hero to the people in United States. Veterans have put their lives at risk to protect our country and people and fight for our freedom throughout the history. However, war is not as simple as we thought. We all are afraid when a war starts, but the veteran are afraid as well. What made them
I also believe that the soldiers who were not in the front lines were just as brave to be there to support our country. Even those who are peacetime veterans are important and should be honored just the same. Peacetime veterans are home and get to be around their family while knowing that at any time they could be called in to fight. They fought so we don't have to walk around with the fear that at any moment we might lose our life or the lives of the
Being a service person is considered to be one of the greatest things to be in America. Our nation takes pride and joy in those called to arms. Those who defend our country are considered to be selfless heroes because not everyone will risk and even sacrifice their lives for the country. Therefore, the Arlington National Cemetery is committed to honoring those who have sacrificed their lives to get and maintain our liberty because that is the least of what they deserve.
“What does Memorial Day means to you?” A question probably not asked nearly as often as it should be. Memorial day is a time that is supposed to remind us of all the rights, liberties, and opportunities that are given to us due to our brave soldiers. They endure the most extreme hardships simply to defend us and our rights. Unfortunately, many of today’s youth only knows Memorial Day as a free day off of school and the day that the pool memberships start.
According to president obama, all countries should come together to honor our fellow veterans on Memorial Day. I strongly agree with this claim, regardless of what had happened 50 years ago between these countries; it is best to forgive and move on because each and every country knew what they were signing up for and the consequences that they would have to face. However, these countries are always at war, so coming together once a year to show our gratitude to the veterans that fought for their individual country is the best way to honor them. Thus , soldiers did what they thought was protecting their own country and risked their lives to protect their people, so each country can afford to sacrifice one day on their behalf. Memorial day is
The title of the book is called "The Plague". The vast majority might want at it and asked, "What is the torment? " That is when everybody would find it on google and see that the torment is a genuine bacterial contamination that can be lethal. Now and again alluded to as the "dark torment," the malady is brought about by bacterial strain called Yersinia pestis. This bacterium is found on creatures all through the world and is typically transmitted to people through bugs.
