I think knowledge is produced as we, people recognize problems, then use some Way of Knowing such as reason, intuition, and language to try to solve it. Since the statement does not define the meaning of the word ‘problems’, it can be interpreted as social problems and personal problems. Therefore, I fully agree with the statement that the main reason knowledge is produced is to solve problems. We can find some instances from Natural Science, Human science, and Art as examples of Areas of Knowledge. In the aspect of Natural science, reason is mainly used as Way of Knowing. That is because researchers, scientists, and scholars should have fundamental knowledge about their issues and those knowledge, theories and concepts have been proved already. Thus, they basically use those preexisted knowledge as their evidences to produce knowledge. Although I agree with the idea that music and art can heal divided minds and move people’s heart, it is just a consequence, but not artists’ intentions. The genuine art should be loyal to creators’ own interests because it is an expression of their emotion. Ludwig van Beethoven and Vincent van Gogh, for example, they were a composer and a painter over a lifetime, although they had difficulties of being artists. Beethoven was to commit suicide when he was desperate to be a deaf. Similarly, Gogh struggled with meager meal and instability of his mental.
