A personal experience i had, is as a child in middle school i was put under so much pressure to be the same as my peers. Even though I wasn’t the same, or didn’t fit into their category. Yet I tried hard to be and always worried about what people would say. Later in High school i developed a Panic Attack disorder from the stress of middle school. I was forced to try and be someone i wasn’t that I didn’t know who i wanted to be, or who i really
My 5 reasons why Americans should learn Spanish is that Spanish is not hard to learn and besides that it’s fun to learn. Many industries are looking are looking for people who speak Spanish and plus half our population speaks Spanish. The United States doesn’t have an official language so there’s no reason not to learn Spanish. Learning Spanish helps you prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
My action speaks louder than words and people can perceive myself any way they want to because I don't care," but then I started to dig myself and I changed my mind. I am the type of person who doesn't really care about society but If I say I don't care about how people think about me, I would be lying. One thing that I know is that I want people to see myself as a grown up. I feel like everyone looks at me as a kid and I think it has something to do with the fact that I am the only child in my family.
Spanish is spoken by 500 million people and will reach 600 million speakers by 2050. Spanish is the official language of 22 countries. Students should be required to learn Spanish. The first reason that students should be required to take Spanish class is that many people know Spanish all around the country.
People have been ashamed and scared to be around people, why? because they're scared of being judged, they live with the pressure of having to be a certain way just to fit in, go with the trends, and fit with society's expectations. I, myself, am part of those people. When you find the relief of being yourself and the importance of showing your true identity, sometimes it just isn't as bad as society makes it seem. “The beauty of your face”, a novel by Sahar Mustafah looks into issues such as discrimination, cultural expectations, and the search for one's true self, overall the lesson we can perceive from this text is the importance of embracing one's individuality, dealing with personal struggles with resilience, and finding strength in one's
In the Debate of speaking Spanish prompt the author Myriam Marquez explains that speaking Spanish in public places in America is not to make herself look un-American, but because she feels it’s a free country where anyone can speak any language they like. First, Spanish speakers shouldn’t be ashamed to speak their language because of what the public might think about them. Secondly, Speaking the Spanish language in public is not rude if it is spoken with family members who speak it as well. Lastly, if a non-Spanish speaker is with people who decide to speak Spanish and not English around them; then it is considered rude.
People care what others think about them. People are taught by society about what is supposedly right and wrong and how to live life “correctly”. Societal expectations write a rule book for life that cannot help but create a rocky development for every individual within any culture. Therefore, these expectations cause more harm than good for individual’s development. One can look at any society or culture around the world and see expectations put forth from an invisible, omniscient character.
I came out as gay to a close few, making sure those I told were trustworthy and accepting. By living in such a small town, word travels fast, and many are quick to talk, therefore it was important for me to be cautious with whom I told, until I knew I was completely
I got to know them enough to want to share where I went to school and what my major was along with how old I was to most of my co-workers. Those are the parts I allow them to know; the information that I’m okay with sharing with a co-worker I meet for the first time (page 61). I haven’t really let anyone get
When I moved to California eight years ago, I always asked myself “why do people think that because we speak Spanish we are from the same country and we are classified as Latinos?” at the beginning it was so offensive that people would ask me “Are you Latina from Mexico or EL Salvador?” I used to get so upset and tell them “No! I am from Ecuador and I am Hispanic”. Despite, the fact that Latinos and Hispanics speak and uses Spanish as their primary language for communication, this does not mean that we are all from the same country, share the same culture and food, and that the meaning of words are the same.
You would think that being different or standing out from the crowd is what everyone is trying to do, in reality it is the opposite. Now a day society wants to be like everyone else around them. People hate you for being different and not living by society’s standards, but deep down they wish they had the courage to do the same. According to Leopard Man’s statement “Conformity can be seen as the world’s most common, but dangerous psychological disorder,” why is that?
Students in Texas schools should be required to learn to speak Spanish because you have to learn it to be able to speak it even if you do, and because it would improve people to speak another language And to maybe get help to speak another language for example if you came some where else to go learn French what you will do is go to some place to learn that language like Texas because you can take good classes just to learn that language, just like for Spanish. The Spanish classes could have been different or way harder to learn there to learn different ways of Spanish to find a easiest way for it. Its important to speak Spanish because you will need Spanish in life like when you talk to other people you may not know because , they will
Individual VS Society Fear is a common human emotion. However, people respond to it in different ways. This response is not always the best and can result in tragedy. During various instances in history has fear led people to do things later are regretted. From the Salem witch trials, to McCarthyism to even modern political witch trials fear has played a big role in.
During my freshman and sophomore years of high school I took Spanish. It was a great experience to immerse myself in a different language and culture. I think every student in high school should take a language course because it makes for a better well rounded education. People who speak spanish as a main language are becoming more prominent in the United States, so it would be good to know at least the basics in case of an emergency. For example, I work at a Dunkin Donuts and sometimes someone who does not speak english with come in.
I would like to start off by envying those who have self confidence. Yes!.. It is a struggle to learn to accept who we are and our sexual orientation. Coming from a gay guy who came out gay at a young age would like to share the best memory and decision I made. When I came out I was nervous and scared on some level.
