Making decisions is a part of our daily life. Every day, we make decisions about little things, from what we will eat for breakfast to which shoes we will wear. It’s simply a part of our existence - decision-making is a vital part of humanity. Humans have been making decisions since we first obtained the ability to do so, and this can be seen in the film, Spartacus. The main character, for whom the film is named after, is a slave in Ancient Rome. However, he’s taken away to a gladiator school and trained to fight to the death in public battles. This school is where he falls in love with a female slave and is the catalyst for a slave rebellion to begin. The two are surrounded by Roman soldiers and are far outnumbered; trying to fight against them isn’t an option. Spartacus loves Antoninus dearly, like his son that he’ll never get to see. He would die a horrific death if it meant his son didn’t have to, and he’s completely willing to do the same for Antoninus. At first, the battle between the pair is a tough one, but Spartacus is far more skilled as a fighter and is able to deliver a fatal blow to his friend. Spartacus holds Antoninus in his death, telling him to go to sleep. Up to this point, Crassus has been searching for Spartacus to get revenge and isn’t completely certain that the victor is truly the man he’s been looking for. In order to find out, Crassus tells the man that Varinia, the wife of Spartacus, and her son are slaves. This prompts a reaction from Spartacus, and Crassus knows he has found the right person.
