Many of these changes are relatively predictable and, while they can be challenging, most are completely normal aspects of their development (Gibbs, Barrow, and Parker, 2015). The debate of Nature Versus Nurture have been going on for many years and still today theorists are debating whether the development of a child is influence by genetic or environmental. After reading Genetic and Environmental Foundation in chapter 2 of “Infants, Children, and Adolescents” and listening to “Twins Data Reshaping Nature Versus Nurture Debate” podcast they both agree that it all starts with the genes. They also state the scientific facts regarding both nature and nurture. The difference in the two resources is one states only the facts and the other not only states the facts, but also has examples by having twins convey their experiences and options of nature versus nurture plays in their situation. However, each child is an individual and his/her physical, emotional, social development is either boosted or restricted by personal factors like genetic health or parentsâ€TM health etc.; and external factors such as the environment they grow up with. All factors have some kind of impact on a growing child and tend to affect all areas of development, not just one. Personal factor Personal factor influence childrenâ€TMs development in many areas. It consist health status, disability, sensory impairment and learning difficulties etc.. Childrenâ€TMs health is really important. Health issues can be genetical which influence how the brain works, e.g. Downâ€TMs syndrome which have impairment of cognitive ability and physical growth.
Having the right knowledge, skills and experience in understanding how children or young people develop are very important tools for early years practitioners. We must put to mind that each child born into this world is unique. Children are born with different characters, their personalities and behaviours are formed and influenced by a variety of factors. These factors may affect their ways of interacting with the environment and community or setting in which they live in.
To begin with, nature is defined by our genetic makeup that is primarily shaped by a person’s temperament, intelligence and personality characteristics. For example, being yourself, or being who you are. If you believe you were already born with a personality, then you take the side of nature. On the other hand, the nurture theory shows how behaviors are taught and influenced by their environment. For example, if you believe that your personality is based on your influences by your parents, siblings or when you were a child then you believe in nurture.

Every child is unique. There is something extraordinary in observing Child’s development. Going in and out from the different developmental stages tends to happen at specific ages. There are times that a child 's stage of development can be figured out by a child 's age because children generally experience the same stages at the same ages. Although a child 's age only gives a clue as to his stage, it does not determine it.
I don't think you can just be born a certain way. We become the person we are by life experiences I also think it is based off of the people we surround ourselves with or the environment we grew up in. Since nurture is more based off of how we were raised, childhood experiences,or the environment we are in. I definitely agree with nurture for example if a child grows up in a loving and well mannered environment the child will most likely grow up as a loving, caring and compassionate person. I feel that nurture allows the parent to mold the child based off of their influences.
Child development is an area of significant interest to professionals who deal with children on a daily basis. It is through child development theorists and their theories that we begin to form an understanding of how children develop emotionally and socially to become fully grown adults in society with a moral and emotional compass/. Teachers need to study child development in order to provide developmentally appropriate educational experiences for children. Health professionals also need to understand this area to support children in their physical, social, emotional and cognitive journey to becoming functioning adults in society. Here in the West childhood was not always considered to be a fundamental developmental phase in life with children in Victorian times working from as early as the age of four.
In the article, “Nature vs. Nurture”, by Saul McLeod, it states, “When an infant forms an attachment it is responding to the love and attention it has received, language comes from imitating the speech of others and cognitive development depends on the degree of stimulation in the environment and, more broadly, on the civilization within which the child is reared.” For example, a toddler can be teach to not have any social interactions with other people than his or her family. As the child begins to mature, the child has a high probability to isolate his or herself from other people. This firm concept is known as nurture. Nurture is the factors of the environment that contributes and impacts the behavior of a specific person.
Nurture is the Key to Human Developments Nurture is the entirety of environment influenced aspects which impact the growth and actions of an individual. Socrates believed that nurture plays a large role in the development of the individual because it can help gain self understanding, decide the way people view the world, and affect people’s nature. By learning knowledge from the world, people are able to identify themselves by understanding things like thoughts, actions, and emotions. For instance: through interactions with others, people can learn what a positive person is like. They have smiles on their faces all the time and won’t easily be affected by bad news.
Children differ in cognitive , social, physical and emotional development pattern. They may differ in response for the same objet or play or affection or people. Some always appear to be active and happy and other appear to be dull and unhappy. It is found that some children are easier to like. To help all kinds of children, it is required to understand the sequence of development pattern.
