Reading is important skill to acquire knowledge. It 's main purpose is to understand. It is essential to success in life. The ability to read is highly valued and very important for social, economic and career advancement. The current Grade 7 students of ICBC Christian Academy has difficulty in Reading Comprehension. Most of them gave their reasoned to this such as, they don’t have a good foundation in reading, they want to read, no one likes to read at home, they like to do picture reading only. In reading skill, if the student have acquired the basic academic language in their first language, it will be easy to them to acquire the next academic language approach in their second language. Music plays important role in children. They found it as fun and enjoyable. It can be relaxing and they can be engaged in learning. Possible result of this is learning to read and the context of grammar used in the music.
Statement of the Problem
1. What is the pre test level of reading proficiency of the Grade 1 students?
2. What is the post test level of reading proficiency of the Grade 1 students?
3. Is there significant difference in pre-test and post test level of reading proficiency of the Grade 1 students?

Significance of the study
