medieval life was religion. Almost every community had a building for church, unless it was a larger town or city, in that case, it would have a cathedral. The church would be located in the center of the community, for easy access. Church bells were a signal that warned people of danger and called them to worship (Frey 3). Services were held at the church multiple times throughout each day. The churches also held town meetings, plays, and concerts. Not only did the churches hold events, but they would also help the poor and sick (Frey 3). When things began to get crazy, people used religion to help them overcome obstacles. Due to this, the Church was able to become powerful and wealthy (Richardson). This meant they could then communicate with churches from all over. The other advantage the church provided to their followers was the monasteries, also describes as the place where monks (men who have taken holy promises) lived. The monasteries, is where any books that were from Rome were stored. These monks studies and made copies of the books so they could retain the valuable knowledge (Richardson). Church was a place where they could escape their class in the feudal hierarchy, join a monastery, become a monk and receive an education (Richardson). Everyone's way of life in the Middle Ages circled around the church.
