The teaching staff 's quality has a significant impact on the learners ' attainment (OECD, 2005). However, it has been widely debated that teachers ' education is not up-to-date since it makes no link to school practice and constant hands-on learning. In other words, teachers ' education does not enable the preservice teachers to apply the theories and knowledge they have learned in a real teaching context (Ramsey, 2000). Indeed, many student teachers in higher education and recent graduate preservice teachers argue that there is no sense of relevance between theoretical knowledge about teaching in their preservice courses at the university and teaching practice in real classroom settings. Despite the fact that student teachers are required to accomplish a teaching practice course in schools before graduation, a number of them is concerned with the insufficient time assigned for teaching experience. They consequently reported …show more content…
The kind of effect that peer tutoring has on teaching readiness depends on several variables such as tutors ' training, duration of tutoring sessions, number of tutees per tutor and the peer tutoring 's center environment. A number of studies has examined the effectiveness of peer tutoring on teaching quality. According to Dawkins, Ritz, & Louden, for example, preservice teachers ' participation as peer tutors along with university courses makes them more effective (2009). Moreover, Viáfara noted that having preservice teachers functioning as peer tutors has a positive effect on enhancing the teaching strategies, increases the preservice teachers ' knowledge about the subject matter and attitudes towards teaching (2014). Thus, Dawkins et al. (2009) and Viáfara (2014) studies will help in building the argument of this
