Teamwork and loyalty, these are the most important core values of a sports team. Whether they are in a game or not, every team must strive to bring out the best in everyone. No man should be left behind, no matter what happens. However, to what certain extent are we willing to be loyal to a team? Given a situation wherein a team won in a major sports competition, but eventually, the team found out that one of them cheated. In this case, which bears more weight: honesty or loyalty? Do you keep it for the sake of the team, or do you admit it for the sake of being transparent? If ever I will be placed in that specific dilemma, I would keep the secret. This is not because I do not value honesty but rather, I value loyalty more than anything. If we decide to separate because we want to pursue our individual dreams or we want to get a new job, it will be easier to us since we left a good reputation as a team. But this applies if the secret will not be revealed soon, which, in this case, is possible. However, if we do admit that we cheated, our records will not be “clean” since we committed a “crime” thus, making it harder for us to find another job. Another thing is that the reputation of the team members’ families is also at stake. If we keep the secret, we will end the team without any unsolved issues and therefore, the families’ images are protected. Unlike if we admit that we did cheat, although we might be considered “heroes” since we admitted to our mistake, people will most likely remember the wrongdoings rather than the confession. With that being said, shame will overshadow that heroic deed and that will be carried over to the family members, thus ruining the families’
