In the 1950’s when Bradbury wrote this book he made many predictions that to an extent came true in modern Time. These predictions revolve around the fact that technology is becoming more important in modern life and making things more simple. Bradbury Says that not only is technology making things easier but with that people are becoming more lazy. Since people nowadays are becoming more lazy they also have less of a strive to learn. This making the plot of the book quite similar to what you might see in modern times. “We stand against the small tide of those who want to make everyone unhappy with conflicting theory and though”-Captain Beatty (59). This quote showing that putting effort into learning and education is against what the majority of people want. Captain Beatty is against knowledge from books and what not because he thinks it serves no real purpose. Captain Beatty's view is similar to the view of the current generation of students in modern day society. Most people today will not read a book because they believe that information can be found so much easier through the internet. This quote meaning that you can learn a lot and think a lot in school but if you stuff that goes against that at home you can end up reversing the effects of education. This quote applying more to modern times then to what actually happened in the book. In the book the kids never really learned any solid information from school. The kids would just learn worthless information the kind that doesn't require any thought or deeper thinking. In today's world we do learn valuable information at school but when we come home technology consumes most people today. Technology ends up going against the information that people learn in school which is why your home environment can go against your school
