Workplace ethics are the values and codes of conduct that influence the development of diligence, hard work and an ethical culture at the workplace (Schoeman, 2014). This is also enhanced by the expectations of moral benefits and their ability to reinforce character. Workplace ethics have a primary role of promoting communication and respect among employees and enhance quality customer relationships which are built on integrity and honesty. Failure to follow the workplace ethics is regarded as downfall to the firm in terms of wages, positions and time. It is also very essential to note that the workplace ethics are built on two core factors. First, they are supposed to be harmonized with the laws and regulations that govern business operations. This will ensure that there is no discrimination, fair hiring and firing practices, standardized wage levels and no engagement in illegal activities. Secondly, they should ensure profitability of the company which is encouraged by a high morale and teamwork. Some of the workplace ethics are: Accountability: To say that you are ethical implies that you acknowledge and hold yourself accountable to the firm’s decisions and consequences. Being a Leader: The only way to enforce and ensure effective ethics is by leading by example. Build an environment within your workplace with high valued decisions that are based on standard and principles of ethics. Caring: Have a genuine concern and feeling of compassion for others.
