Her use of multiple different studies and situations help boost her argument and allow the reader to truly see how students actually do formal writing. She presents a strong argument as to why those who believe students don't have the control and knowledge to write formally, instead of with text speak, are wrong.
Texting is ubiquitous in modern Western society. It's a convenient way to communicate basic ideas quickly without having to commit to a phone conversation or the long wait for a letter. All of this is done through cellular phones on the go and many teenagers have subscribed to this method of communication as their primary one. When texting, it is customary to abbreviate certain words in order to save time. These abbreviations can be considered a language that evolves out of texting, and that language can be referred to as textspeak.

They are just a waste of time. Deb Fitzgerlb, a teacher at Van Schaick Elementary, told CBS Albany that she would rather use class time on other topics and move past the cursive lessons (Source A). So, even teachers who are meant to be teaching cursive, are getting tired of the lessons. They just want to move on. Additionally, Source E talks about how the author can’t believe 15 minutes of every school day went into cursive lessons as a kid.
Have you ever had that weird situation where you needed to sign something but you didn't know cursive, because it was not taught in your school? Cursive really should be taught in schools, but only to a certain degree. Kids should be taught to read cursive and to write their name in cursive, but not how to completely write in cursive. Cursive is faster and neater than normal printing.
Reading and writing influence the way that I interact with the world. I learn new things from reading and writing, which in turn help me communicate with others because I am learning new facts and skills. My relationship with literacy is a very close one. Writing is about going through experiences and jotting those experiences down on paper and putting them in order so that the reader can understand what experiences you went through to get to the point that you have come to. Writing is a way to write you feel and to make it easy so that you do not have to speak what is on your mind. With close observation, writers have literary shifted from the normal standards of writing and styles of writing that are impersonal. However, the assumption has not been examined in the recent past. In this paper, the issue is explored, and a trial is made in ascertaining whether less formality is being associated with academic writing.
