Theory in Research Southern New Hampshire University Daneen Breitenbach Nursing 506 Theory in Research Article Reflection According to Marchant (2014) in an article entitled "Neonates do not feel pain: A critical review of the evidence," Marchant provides evidence for and against the hypothesis "Neonates do not feel pain." The neonatal nervous system was considered to be underdeveloped and up until 1985, clinicians did not think it was possible for neonates to experience pain. Advances in neonatal research, however, have demonstrated that newborns do in fact experience pain and controlling that pain can have both short and long term benefits. Neonatal pain or discomfort occurs during patient care, moderate, and severe invasive procedures.

The American Revolution was primarily caused by the Proclamation of 1763, the Tax Acts, and the Coercive Acts that were forced upon the Americans by the English. The Proclamation of 1763, while not as inflammatory as the Tax Acts or Coercive Acts, marked the beginning of England’s attempt to control America. The Tax Acts appeared to be extremely unjust to the Americans, who insisted that a government that they did not elect had no right to decide what taxes they would pay. The Coercive Acts were passed to punish the rebels of Massachusetts, but it only further revealed the injustice of England to the rest of America. This further united the country in one common cause: to free America from the English tyranny.

Perhaps the most obvious size of the fetus is dramatically increasing and is about six times higher. While providing uterine protection, the fetus is indirectly connected to the outside world through the mother. Many mother-related factors can harm the fetus: poor nutrition, alcohol use, smoking, the use of some prescription or over-the-counter drugs, the use of recreational drugs such as cocaine, sedatives and drugs, X-rays and other types of radiation.
The arrival of a new baby, especially the first always marks a new beginning for a mother. It comes with a lot of challenges more so if the mother is less knowledgeable about baby care. Take such as cleaning the baby for the first time, or feeding, it is not easy. The baby is still fragile and slippery and needs a special care. But if the mother is not ready for all these, or maybe, does not have any knowledge on what to do, the baby’s life might be endangered since the baby needs a special care which only the mother can give.
