There’s no way in this world that I would allow myself to see my brother or my sister live on the streets. No one is born into homelessness; some have just been through a series of unfortunate events in their lives that led them to live as homeless individuals. For others, it's a case of psychological problems. No matter what family you come from, everybody is born for a reason. The social issue that I picked is homelessness. Homelessness is a real issue, even if we don’t always see it. Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.
I remember being a little kid and whenever my family and I would see a homeless person with a sign my parents would say, “Don’t make eye contact,” or “They probably don’t even have a problem, they’re just begging.” I remember when I made my dad buy a woman and her children McDonalds because she had a sign about having no money for food and she had no home and I felt bad for her kids. I remember my dad giving her the McDonalds and her saying to my dad, “I’d rather just have the money.” That’s when I stopped feeling sympathetic towards the poor and homeless. That’s when I decided if they wanted to be out of poverty then they could work for it

What Causes Homelessness? Homelessness is living without a home. There are many factors that causes men, women, and children to become homeless. The main three causes are traumatic events, personal crisis, and drug abuse.
Homelessness affects men, women and children of all ages and ethnicities around the world. The main cause of homelessness is low income and the lack of affordable housing. Due to the low income, many homeless people are unable to get the health care that is needed. Compared to the general population, homeless people are more likely to become ill and generally die at a younger age. In most cases, when the homeless become ill they turn to drugs and alcohol causing more of an issue than just their illness.

CAUSES OF HOMELESSNESS: POVERTY AND POOR PARENTING: Prolonged poverty affects a child personality development; poverty causes family dysfunction, stress among caregivers and inadequate parenting. Unemployment may have caused family poverty; some may inherit poverty because of being born into a particular family. Poverty causes family distress and affects the relationship between adults and which intend lead to less effective parenting that involves inadequate surveillance, lack of control over child’s behaviour, lack of warmth and support and inconsistency. Data and Analysis My main focuses were on the types of people walking about (e.g. I observed homeless people walking with shopping carts), the amount of maintenance (trash piling where trash cans should be), and the surrounding structures. This allowed me to see a general demographic of people and the present economic class . From my observations, the streets are not well-cared for, having uneven pavement and depressions. Graffiti is also a prominent feature and is all over buildings, ATM machines, signposts, parking meters--almost any available flat surface.
