After the death of Huey Long, Louisiana politics were divided into two significant camps under the Pro-Long and Anti-Long forces. This philosophy of government became known as “Longism” and its vision was to split Louisiana politics right down the middle. The Pro-Long and Anti-Long forces were what we know today as Democratic and Republican parties.
