With freedom comes consequences and responsibility. The theory of individual social responsibility is built on a system of ethics, in which decisions and actions must be ethically validated before proceeding. Freedom can easily be achieved through the theory by showing equivalent balance for any community. For over 200 years, America has titled itself as “The Land of the Free” however, as a country, we’re still not balanced when it comes to equality. The American society fails to use the theory of individual social responsibility for the use of our title as a country. The society continues to show prejudice, discrimination, judgment, and inequality for people of color and gender. Since the beginning of American history, women have been treated immorally and unequally from men. Although rights have been given to them over the years, why is that they are still being the treated the same? For years, they have judged and discriminated from white men and continued to be treated unfairly today. The Declaration of Independence states, “that all men are created equal”, however, we know that it means that only white men are equal. Studies have shown that 66% of black men and women believe that the American society will not change and that equality will never come for them. For us as a society to be the “Land of the Free”, we must learn to see each as an equal. As humans, we will always judge somebody or something. However, our selfishness can be abolished which stops us from freedom. It's the arrogance and self-righteous that causes control over the world. Their many solutions for prejudice against people of color and sex to be gone, it is about time us as the American society start use socially responsibility
