The general argument made by author Salman Khan in his/her work, The Learning Myth: Why I’ll Never Tell My Son He’s Smart, is that we, as parents and/or teachers, should set our children to a “growth mindset.” More specifically, Salman Khan argues that we should praise a child for their process rather than an innate trait or talent. Salman Khan’s belief is that a “growth mindset,” will help people expand their knowledge and grow in intelligence. In my view, Salman Khan is right, because it makes sense to me that a person who is complimented trait-wise, would want to stick to whatever they were complimented for.
