The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is about a man named Ichabod Crane who moves to the supernatural town of Sleepy Hollow. He moves to the town to become a teacher. He lives with the parents of the children he teaches. Ichabod also teaches singing lessons. He falls for one of his students he was giving singing lessons over. Her name was Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter of a rich farmer. Ichabod did not know who her father was until he visited her family estate. After that Ichabod imagined a life with her but, he was not the only one trying to win her hand. Ichabod’s intentions with Katrina were never true after that. The love that Ichabod has for Katrina was just over money, the rivalry of Ichabod and Brom Bones, and never over how much he liked her.

He never had much money due to being a teacher. He was technically homeless while living in Sleepy Hollow. He never had his own home, he lived off the people.
