The Writing that influenced me

I found "The Lesson of the Moth” by Don Marquis very influential and philosophical. To most people their life is about working and saving money for a better future. There are very few people that really understand what life is about. I could say I live life to the fullest but in reality I don't, I live half of my life and the other half is routine. This poem was very powerful, it spoke the truth about how most of us live.

When marquis wrote "why if that had been an uncovered candle instead of an electric light bulb you would now be a small unsightly cinder have you no sense” (Marquis 151). As I read these words I thought of the so many times people have told me that my thoughts of sky diving is a dumb idea. Many people asked me what if the parachute doesn't function correctly. But for now I will live half of what truly makes me happy, I hope I have a longer life because once my last child turns 18 I am living life to the fullest extent. "But at the same time I wish there was something I wanted as badly as he wanted to himself” (Marquis 152). I love my children and I don't ever want to hurt them and it's the reason why I keep my self-safe. But this writing really spoke to me that life is too short to live in a life that is all routine and never changing. I feel that I should do other things maybe not jumping of a plane but going to concerts more often instead of saving every dollar I have for my children's future, I am not selfish but once in a while a bit of selfishness could go a long
