The Links Between Photosynthesis And Cellular Respiration

425 Words2 Pages

Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are closely related. These energy reaction sustain life. It is said that photosynthesis originated in anaerobic cells that used sulfide. This conclusion was drawn from the fact that such complex organism did not exist during the early period of the earth. The evolving of the pigment of such molecules caused the substitution of sulfide to water. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use energy from the sun to create energy. This is the chemical conversion of sunlight, carbon dioxide and water into pure oxygen. Water is obtained from the roots which travels to the leaves through xylems. Carbon dioxide enters the leaves through stomas, which are bounded by guard cells. Guard cells are responsible …show more content…

This process is written as C6H12O6+602+6H2O—12H2O+6CO2. This process is the mirrored reaction of photosynthesis. Most energy transformation occurs in oxidation, which is the reduction of reactions. This process releases electrons and reduction accepts electrons. Cellular respiration includes three processes, these are glycolysis, kerb cycle and electron transport. Glycolysis “breaking sugar” is the metabolic pathway in the cytoplasm of all cell, which is spilt into two pyruvate molecules. The kerb cycle is oxidization of the pyruvate cell and release carbon dioxide enzyme to transfer the potential energy from the pyruvate cell to produce ATP. It also manufactures organic molecules like amino acids to generate energy from food. The electron transport chain transfers electron through the protein membrane. It contains three complexes of integral membrane proteins. These are NADH dehydrogenase, cytochrome C reductase, and also cytochrome C oxidase. The mitochondrion “power house of the cell” use the potential energy stored in the proton gradient to produce ATP. Some of the similarities of between both processes are that both photosynthesis and cellular respiration use electron transports chain. Also they both are performed by endosymbiosis
