The causes of World War 1 have to do with MANIA which is militarism, alliances, imperialism, and assassination. Every one of those have a big thing to do with the causes leading up to the World War.
The first cause of WW1 is militarism. Militarism is the desire or belief of a government or people that a state should keep a strong military capability and then use that strongly to expand national interests or values, basically just building more battleships, weapons, and larger armies.. Germany and Great Britain both increased their battleships which then threatened

Alliances were formed leading up to the war. Serbia and Russia had an alliance, England and France had an alliance, and Germany and Austria-Hungary also had formed an alliance.
Due to the alliance system, a war between 2 nations turned into war throughout an entire continent. Nationalism is the next cause leading up to World War One. Nationalism is an idea and movement that holds that the nation should be congruent with the state. It tends to promote the interests of a particular nation, with the aim of gaining and maintaining the nation's sovereignty over its homeland to create a nation-state. Nationalism caused nations to build up their armies and led to increased militarism. It also created extremely high tensions in Europe in the decades before the outbreak of WW1.
Imperialism is the next cause that led up to WW1. Imperialism is the practice, attitude, or theory of maintaining or extending power or hard power, but also soft power. Basically imperialism is extending influence through diplomacy and the military.
