The Mechanicals are one of many sources of amusement in a Midsummer 's’ Night Dream. They are a group of people that form a theater troupe even though they have ordinary jobs that they do every day. They were created to be a satire of the working class at the time that Shakespeare wrote the play. They are ironic today because if they actually represent the working class, then the viewer has no idea they are a representation of the working class which negates their point of being. The mechanicals are a satirical impression of the people that viewed Shakespeare’s play when he was alive.

This is important because later in the story the fairy king uses the mechanical to trick the queen into falling in love with him because he is so hideous looking. The mechanicals also have another role in the play. This is that they are a representation of the working class people of Shakespeare’s time. They are meant to be a satire of what the working class is.
Today the satire of the working class is very Ironic. This is because if Shakespeare was correct in his satire of the working class people the crowd at his plays would not understand the satire in front of them. The reason for this is the mechanicals do not understand the underlying themes of the play they only understand the script of the play and how to act it out. In the same way Shakespeare crowd was unaware that the mechanicals were a satire of themselves.
