Jonas and the residents of the community show paranoia because they were second guessing their peers, they were hoping that no false accusations happen on them, and also because they want to protect themselves and their loved ones so that nothing bad happens to them.
The most important change was when Dorothy in the book goes to The Land of Oz; however, in the film she doesn't. Even though in the book Dorothy purposely throws water at the Wicked Witch she does it because she is angry, yet in the film they make it an accident so she doesn't seem malevolent. Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly lion get what they want physically; however, in the film they get it literately. Bigger, Stronger, Faster is a documentary directed by Christopher Bell that presents the widespread use of steroids in sports as a sign of winning at whatever cost it takes to be better. The Bell brothers have been drawn into perceiving that performance enhancing drugs is the way to realizing the American Dream. This documentary demonstrates various interviews with coaches, politicians, doctors, and bodybuilders. Bigger, Stronger, Faster informs people the use of steroids and issues of taking steroids.
The film 13th directed by Ava DuVernay targets an intended audience of the Media and the three branches of the United States government with an emphasis that mass incarceration is an extension of slavery. It is intended to inform viewers about the criminalization of African Americans and the United States prison boom. 13th uses rhetorical devices in its claim to persuade the viewers by using exemplum in the opening seconds of the film. President Barack Obama presents statistics, saying “the United States is home to 5% of the world’s population but is home to 25% of the world’s prisoners.” Also the film uses a hyperbole in talking about the movie Birth of a Nation produced in 1915 which portrays a black man as a violent savage who will kill white women.

There are multiple people who are intrigue and love horror movies without knowing the reason. In Stephan Kings essay, “Why We Crave Horror Movies” he does his best to find an answer to the question “why do people crave horror movies?” Throughout his essay he came up with certain key points to answer the question. At the beginning of his essay, he makes a bold statement that “we are all mentally ill.” He motions that people just watch horror movies to portray their fearlessness while suppressing their true emotions.
The main party scene is a great example of this contrast in music in the two movies. The 1974 past version uses the song called “Jordan’s Tango” by Nelson Riddle which is a song produced with ragtime and jazz components of the 1920’s to get crowds of this time moving. While this song was played in the movie there was a huge carnival tent popped out in front of J. Gatsby’s mansion, while this tent was more appropriate for this time it didn't really connect to the viewers because it was more seen as a precipitly placed circus tent. While in the 2013 present movie version, the party scene was larger, grander, and bombarding the viewer with the feel of a party. The party was boisteriously flowing out of Gatsby's mansion, as implied by the book, and draped all of its attendees with alcohol and glitter.
Spooky things exist to feed off people’s emotions. People normally view these spooky things using a set rules or scale to judge these type of monsters. This is how people are aware of the situations that they are in. In order to escape this situation, people must think about it to themselves. Due to these situations, people of our community watch horror movies in order to simulate the idea of spooky things for the future.
Throughout life we are told to express our individuality and swim against the stream of the general population to put emphasis on the characteristics that make us, in short, individuals. Cherishing what makes an individual special and different is what establishes roots in creativity and self expression, however there is a forced false sense of comradery in today’s society that takes the form of involvement with the masses; peer pressure forces many people to fall into the mold of an average character. The Academy award winning film, “The Incredibles” displays the themes of expressing one’s true self and special qualities, and in contrast repression by society to fit a basic mold. These themes are elaborated on through the development of the main characters and expressed further through the supporting roles and their dialogue and endeavors.
Like a gothic mastermind, Tim Burton incorporates dark, grotesque, child-like themes in his cinematic style. A director’s cinematic style is how their film is recognized and the techniques in their films to give their work value. Tim Burton is known for his unique cinematic style that has made his films one of a kind. Tim Burton’s style is made so unique through his use of sound tracking, lighting, and costuming for his films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Edward Scissorhands. Tim Burton applies sounds such as background music and sound effects to add reality and emphasis to the film and to create a certain, precise moods.
Also along with the birthday, at Freaks birthday party in the book he has a seizure, the movie never has Freak get a seizure. In the book, Max runs to the medical building to find Freak and breaks the door, in the movie Max ends up in a place filled with people doing laundry. There are lots of little things to that were different like the movie started the setting in school and moved it to the summertime, whereas in the book we started the setting in the summertime and moved it to the school.
