In the story “The Last Dinosaur” by Jim Murphy the mood was tense, “A sudden noise made the female jerk up her head to look and listen.” The mood was also eerie, “In the smoke and dark forest shadows, something moved. The shape was big, as big as many of the trees, and had a massive head.” I thought the theme of the story was to never give up once you've lost everything, and to keep going and push through being as hopeful as you can, “She hadn't eaten much in days and wanted to find some tender plants. And maybe, somewhere deep in the forest, there was another triceratops herd she could join. Slowly, as the sun went down, the female pushed through the bushes to begin her search.” My reaction to this story would have to be surprised. I was surprised by the strength of all of the characters working together when the t-rex was attacking them, and the ability for the female to move forward when she had lost everything. …show more content…

And those who saw the buffalos are gone.” It was also sorrowful, “Those who saw the buffaloes by the thousands and how they pawed the prairie sod into dust with their hoofs, their great heads down pawing on in a great pageant of dusk, those who saw the buffalos are gone.” The theme in this story was never to take advantage of something, because it won’t always be there if you do. I know this because around the same time Carl Sandburg wrote this story people were hunting the buffalos to near-extinction and not doing anything to help or fix it. Therefor the buffalos were going extinct. My overall reaction to this story was disappointed. I was disappointed in the way humans were killing off all of the buffalos without even noticing or doing anything about it. I could really see this in the way the story was
