The book I decided to read is entitled, “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.” This book is written by Robert A. Heinlein. It was actually a very interesting book; it was pretty much about a “lunar revolt” against planet Earth written in 3 books. Book 1: That Dinkum Thinkum, Book 2: A Rabble in Arms, and Book 3: TANSTAAFL! I will outline all three in this paper. The time period of the book was based in 2075, on Luna (the Moon) where it is said that a sort of “super computer” named HOLMES IV (High-optional, Logical, Multi-Evaluating Supervisor, Mark IV) was in almost complete control. (acronym for There Aint No Such Thing As a Free Lunch!), the Federated Nations on Earth send armies to destroy Lunas plans. There is a great loss of life for the Loonies. Rumor has it among the dead is Adam Selene, Mikes alter ego, thus removing the need for him to be seen in the flesh which was being pushes by the other Loonies. Mike then makes the decision to throw rocks at the lower populated areas of Earth as a sort of scare tactic, he gives the places at time, but non believing and religious people travel to the sites any way, and die there. It is at this point that the Loonies are starting to waiver on their belief in the revolution and they are turning on their own leaders. Earth then retaliates with a second attack, which destroys Lunas first catapult, but they already have built a smaller version of the same catapult and continue to attack Earth until they cave in to Lunas idea of independence. And this point Luna is crumbling and so are their fighters. The professor goes in front of the crowds of people and proclaims victory but then abruptly falls and dies. Mannie then obtains control and fights the good fight for a good time after. But eventually him and Wyoh withdraw from their positions and declare that their newly founded government isn’t how they expected it to be. All is said and done at this point. Luna goes back to the way it was and Mannie then soon tries to talk to Mike again and finds that due to the war or of shock undergone afterward HOLMES IV has lost all self-awareness and human like qualities, thus ending the
