The most valuable type of strength in a survival situation is mental strength. This is because how you think determines how you act and affects how you socialize with others. Also, if you cannot function mentally, you cannot function physically. Not only can these affect your actions, but also how you see yourself and view the world. An example of mental strength is the seventh man. This young boy suffered for many years after the death of his best friend. Not only this, he thought it was his fault, hence the word thought. “I stopped having my terrible nightmares. I no longer wake up screaming in the middle of the night. And I am trying now to start life over again. ”Paragraph 63. this quote shows how he later gets over it and is finally set free from this feeling. He got over this feeling by going back to where this traumatic event happened and reconnecting with his surroundings.
