Crucible
A crucible is a defining moment. It’s a challenge which everyone faces in their life where they either use up or back down from the obstacle. To face or to flee is the simplified essence of a crucible moment. Furthermore, it’s a transforming experience through which an individual arrives at a new or altered sense of identity.
I’ve had numerous crucible moments in my life, but by far the most life changing was a temperate June night, when my brother threw a party. I arrived home from school at 7:00 sharp like i do every week day. I was bombarded by countless seniors setting up tents in the backyard, and clearing out furniture in the family room. Mom and Dad were on vacation which gave me a vague idea of what was beginning.

This was the first time my integrity was called into question, and the most crucial moment in my life. I understood the importance of this decision, and how it would affect my future. I also understood that alcohol is a drug, which in turn could result in addiction, and causing my grades to drop substantially. I wanted to resist, I truly did, however, to be utterly blunt, there were just too many girls. I don’t exactly recall what i did after that, except for the fact that I lost my shirt, and a piece of my integrity as well.
While this was not one of my fondest moments, it offered a sense of identity, or more precisely a glimpse of my flaws I possess, which can later prove to be detrimental to my ethics, morality and sincere decency. This crucial moment in my life was a defining moment and possibly a foreshadow to the difficult road ahead. It might seem like an innocent party, yet while at the wrong place at the wrong time, it can prove to be fatal to my reputation, character, and status among my fellow
