Rituals and mythologies are universal throughout human cultures, they provide stories with great meaning. Like so many other cultures in ancient times Egyptians looked to them for support, guidance and value. The Egyptians found solace and support in these myths. Handed down through generations, these texts were guides as to how to govern their lives. It is evident that they were an important factor in Egyptian life because so much is built around their gods and their myths. Egyptian gods were responsible for the existence and maintenance of their world. They worshipped and gave them gifts and sacrifices to show not only they were at the gods mercy but to also reassure them that they were their everything. The entire culture revolved around the gods, they believed their pharaoh’s had achieved the role of gods, it was like they were the liaison to earth, and when they were entombed myths were painted and entombed for future generations. …show more content…

It tells the myth of how Osiris was tricked and killed by his brother Seth for Osiris’ throne. It also told the Egyptians how Isis exhaustively searched for her love across all of Egypt despite being in great danger. Envy, greed, love and hope are all crucial parts of this myth and the myth became the basis of a good deal of Egyptian values, beliefs and culture.
