Joseph Theodore Taylor also known as "Squizzy" was a Notorious Australian gangster from Melbourne who is commonly known for his criminal activities such as gang wars, cocaine dealing and his involvement in an armed bank robbery in 1923. Taylor started to get into trouble with the police and in May 1905 at the age of 16 when he was arrested for insulting behavior. His first criminal conviction was recorded in March 1906 at the age of 17 when he was sentenced to 21 days imprisonment for the theft of an ‘overcoat’. As a youth, Taylor became known by the nickname 'Squizzy' which stayed with him for the rest of his life. Lupe Fiasco released the inspirational song, “The Show Goes On,” on October 26, 2010, as the first single from his third studio album Lasers. He uses motivational and inspirational phrases to motivate the audience to never give up even if they are going through the hardest parts of their lives. Fiasco uses his past to connect to the targeted audience, that being the less fortunate families and those who grew up in harsh conditions.

In the same way, Georgie Gibbs rewrote and toned down a song called “The Wallflower”, originally recorded by Etta James and called it “Dance with me Henry” which went all the way to number one on the pop charts while the original version didn’t even make it into the chart. Gibbs also covered LaVern Baker’s “Tweedle Dee” by using the same backing group, same arrangements, and the same musicians. Gibbs version went to become number one on the chart while the original version was lagging behind at number fourteen.

I interviewed one of my high school science teachers about her favorite song. Dr. Barr told me that her favorite song is from the bluegrass genre called “Wagon Wheel” (I had never heard this song before). She said that this song is her favorite because it is really catchy, but it does not have any special meaning for her. I asked her if she was able to remember this song’s lyrics and she could recall them partially. “Wagon Wheel” was released in the year of 2004 by a group called Old Crow Medicine Show and the instruments used during the song are banjos and guitars.
