Education in today’s world has enabled us to broaden our knowledge as well as open doors for many opportunities which lead to the path of having a successful future. There is a lesson which is learned and another taken away from the three readings from different authors. Each of the authors has contributed their opinion on general education which is public, as seen from the passages. Hence, this topic is seen to be an argumentative one because it depends on the education quality which people receive. Furthermore, in our societies’ workforce, education is the single most important factor for individuals to realize their own goals.
According to the reading Idiot Nation by Michael Moore, his views education in American schools is expressed in the form of sarcasm. The author begins with a blunt question “Do you feel like you live in a nation of idiots?” he recognizes that there are several Americans who attend school and then later on move to pursue higher education. The programs that are current in the system however do not leave much to be desired by the learners. This is clear as majority of students who graduate from colleges in America are not required to have learnt any foreign language.

The author relates to when President George Bush tells students that an average of C can make them a president. This presents students with a wrong notion that they do not have to read for them to be successful. Politicians hence are providing wrong information to students which in turn affect them in the schooling which in turn leads to poor quality of education in public schools. Furthermore the wages which teachers receive for teaching in public school is small and this affects how they teach to students which in turn lead to poor quality of education offered to students in public
