Across the board Accounting has reported to be one of the fastest growing professions in the United States. Accounting has been a viewed as a very respected, successful profession to be in. The job outlook has always been bright for many college students entering the field. In an interview conducted by Giancarlo Attolini for the IFAC interviewed 5 distinguished memebrs of the IFAC being Raymond Chend, Monica Foerster, Alex Hilman, Gali McEvoy, Mats Olsson, and Florin Toma (2014). Across the board the most impact on accounting was the implementation of computer software, and computers. Many of the speakers claimed that when they first got into the business of accounting, they were doing everything by hand, whereas now the time working on a journal entry for example is cut in half. (Attolini et al., 2014). Similarly, Attolini et al.’s, (2014) interviewees also agree that the accounting practice will continue to shift towards the use of technology and more software requiring that the accountant flexible in changing their routines in order to ensure productivity within the cooperation (Attolini et al., 2014). It is important to recognize the huge amount of progress the accounting profession has grown and the opportunities it provides. Currently, accounting is in desperate need of new, young talent that will stick with a firm for a good amount of time. It is important for college students to recognize that firms usually do not offer, as much incentive to entice accountants, so now would be a really good time to pursue accounting. With salaries projected to raise as much as 5.3% by the year 2016, accounting is proving itself to be a very rewarding career choice that should definitely be taken into consideration by college students and prospective college
